Motel Hell (1980)
If the mock American Gothic pose of Farmer Vincent and Ida on the poster doesn't make the loopy dark humor of Motel Hell clear to potential viewers, the rhyming tagline that sounds like an advertising slogan for Vincent's smoked meat products certainly does. Tobe Hooper, director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), was slated to direct Motel Hell for Universal before the project was ultimately picked up by United Artists and directed by Kevin Connor.
